Senate Leadership Fund Files FEC Complaint Against Patrick Murphy, Charlie Crist

The Senate Leadership Fund (SLF) has filed a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission, pursuant to 52 U.S.C. § 30109(a)(1), against U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy and others, urging the commission to investigate what SLF alleges are illegal straw donations made to Murphy’s 2012 campaign for Congress and Charlie Crist’s 2010 campaign for the United States Senate.

Florida Divided Over Transgenders and Bathrooms

A new poll shows Florida is divided on which bathrooms transgenders should use but against the idea of forcing public schools to allow transgendered students to use the bathrooms of the gender they identify with. 

"The issue of transgender people and the use of public bathrooms finds voters split on exactly what should be done," said Peter Brown, the assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, on Thursday. 

Zika Remains a Major Concern for Florida Voters

Floridians are concerned about the Zika virus, a new poll shows. 

Quinnipiac University released a poll on Thursday morning which finds 22 percent of voters in the Sunshine State are very concerned about Zika while 40 percent are somewhat concerned about it. While 22 percent say they’re not so concerned about it, 15 percent say they aren’t concerned about Zika at all.

With his friend and ally Marco Rubio running for a second term in the Senate, Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera bowed out of the Senate race on Wednesday morning. 

Lopez-Cantera met with Rubio last week after the jihadist terrorist attack in Orlando and urged his friend to run for a second term. On Wednesday, with reports out that Rubio was running for reelection, Lopez-Cantera ended his Senate bid.

Carlos Curbelo teamed up with Colorado Republican Mike Coffman to bring out the “Recognizing American Children Act" on Tuesday. Their proposal would “allow undocumented immigrants that arrived in this country prior to 2010 as minors to adjust their immigration status” by offering various paths to citizenship.
